I grew up having difficulty saying ‘No’ and being a people-pleaser (which means often making other people’s desires a priority but frequently forgetting about your own desires).
Because I am sensitive, I excelled at tuning into other people’s moods and emotions. I excelled at knowing what they wanted but I frequently didn’t know what I wanted. Because of this I had a difficult time speaking up for myself and I also had a difficult time saying “No.”
Most of the time I only knew what I wanted after the conversation had already ended! Later, I would criticize myself for not having known what to say. I so wished that I could be tough, like everyone else.
I am a highly sensitive person (HSP) and like so many highly sensitive people, I was often told as a child and young adult that I was “too sensitive”. Hearing this often made me feel alone and sometimes made me think that perhaps something was wrong with me.
At other times, I didn’t care what other people thought about me because I loved being able to perceive the beauty around me, especially in the natural world, that so many people seemed to miss out on.
Even today, my husband will sometimes tell me that I am “too sensitive”. He may be right or wrong; it really doesn’t matter to me because I now believe that being sensitive is so much better than not.
My world is so much richer because of my sensitive traits. I see more, I hear more and I experience more joy because of it.
If you are wondering if you are a people pleaser or how sensitive you are, be sure to sign up for my free gift, Self Esteem Starter Kit. It includes two self-assessments that will quickly help you answer these questions.
What has brought me to where I am today was enrolling in best selling author, Debbie Ford’s coach training program.
I discovered that I was beating myself up with all that self-criticism, that it was hurting my self-esteem and confidence and killing so much of the joy of living that I could have been experiencing.
I learned how to listen in to and value my own wants and needs and how to nurture myself with powerful practical and spiritual tools. My life transformed from strongly disliking myself to loving myself.
Since I completed that in-depth two-year training with Debbie, I have developed additional tools for myself and my clients that create peace of mind and build self-esteem and confidence with healthy boundaries.
I invite you to join me on the path to becoming your authentic self; living with joy and meaning, peace of mind and purpose.
I have read many, many articles that tell women who have difficulty saying “No” (called people pleasers) what they should be doing. This is the last thing you need to hear. (This also applies to sensitive women who are usually highly conscientious.)
You already excel at telling yourself what you should be doing and all this “shoulding” on yourself hasn’t worked to create the inner peace, confidence, and clear sense of purpose that you’ve been yearning for.
Instead, this habit has served to keep you feeling stressed and overwhelmed. You are already very responsible – to other people. There is only one person who has been forgotten. Do you know who that person is? Yes, that person is you!
Now is the time for you to step out of hiding who you truly are. Now is the time to drop the smiling mask and identify what makes you feel deeply nourished and fulfilled and then to act on that wisdom.
If this feels scary, I want to tell you that I am here to support you step-by-step. Together, we will listen in to discover what you truly desire. Then, I’ll help you reveal the limiting beliefs keeping you feeling stuck and stressed. You will learn empowering and easy-to-use tools to de-stress and assist you in letting go of those old limiting beliefs and step into who you’ve been longing to be.
You’ll leave behind worry and second-guessing yourself. Without all that worry, you’ll have more energy and time for what you want to doing. You’ll enjoy living with confidence and joy. You’ll experience improved and happier relationships and will be making long held dreams your new reality.
Annie has helped me to work through issues that felt stuck and used up too much of my energy, often leaving me tired and frustrated. I now have tools I can use to get back on track when I need to and I have the confidence, calm, and high self-esteem I was looking for.
~ Cathy, Stay-at-Home Mom
I have been on this path myself and have guided and supported my clients in walking this path too. It’s a clear step-by-step path that my clients have found to be empowering and joyful. Are you ready to take the first step to living with peace of mind, self-esteem, confidence, and joyful purpose? Will you join us?

~ David G., Massage Therapist
Before I embarked on the Courage Coaching Program, life felt kind of humdrum, I felt unmotivated and like a coach potato; I was enjoying life but I wasn’t inspired. I often said “Yes” at work to make everyone happy when I wanted to say “No”.
I was working on planning an international trip but every time I thought about it, I felt trepidation and it seemed that the trip itself would be very stressful.
Now, I have more energy, stronger self-confidence, and am saying “No” more often at work which is helping me to feel a lot more secure and good about myself.
I’m glad to say that I enjoyed getting my trip planning started while working with Annie and the trip turned out to be awesome. I am now much clearer about what I want out of life and I now have spiritual tools that I use to feel more courageous and confident when I need it. I feel a lot more comfortable, courageous and I’m having more fun!
Annie is very easy to talk to and was a great coach throughout the sessions.
